How do I charge my LuminAID?Updated 2 hours ago

Graphic depicting how to recharge your lantern. Two houses are shown with a sun outside of the houses. There is a green X in front of one where the lantern is outside of the house and a red X where the lantern is inside of the house.

There are two ways to recharge your LuminAID light, depending on your model: solar charging and USB charging.

Solar Charging

To charge your LuminAID using the sun:

  1. Place your light outdoors in direct sunlight with the solar panel facing the sun.
  2. Position the light away from shadows, shade, or other obstructions for the best charging performance.
  3. Allow the light to charge based on your product's recommended charging time.

Important: Windows block some of the sunlight needed for effective solar charging, so charging your LuminAID indoors or inside a vehicle will significantly slow down charging. Solar charging times also vary depending on the season, location, weather, and product.

Safety Note: Do not leave your LuminAID on a car dashboard while charging. Temperatures inside a vehicle can become hot enough to exceed the product's safe operating and charging temperature range.

USB Charging

If your LuminAID has a USB charging port, you can recharge it using the appropriate USB cable and a compatible 5V power source. USB charging is typically faster than solar charging. You can use the included cable to charge the lantern from any USB port: your computer, battery bank, or the USB wall adapter that charges your phone. When you plug your light in, the red charging indicator light will be very bright. Even if your light is completely discharged, the battery indicator LEDs will light.
